Vacation Planning in the Digital Age

Summer is just around the corner and like many of you, we are excited to see some new sites. There are so many great online resources available for planning a vacation and admittedly I am totally obsessed with anything that helps me with my trip planning.  I think about it All. The. Time. I like to think of trip planning like a little mini vacation where I can day-dream about all the fun we’re going to have. Some people call this “procrastination” or “a coping mechanism,” but whatever! Once we’ve decided on a location…like just seconds after, I go into research mode and scour the interwebs for all there is…

Crack in the Mountain Hiking Guide

The Crack in the Mountain slot canyon hike goes by many names, (also called SARA’s Crack Trail, SARA Canyon Trail or Crack in the Wall),  but most people just refer to it as “The Crack.” The trail head, located at SARA (Special Activities Recreation Area) Park, is about 15 minutes south of the London Bridge Resort on hwy 95 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. This hike offers a fairly flat out and back trail through the canyon as well as an upper route both ending along the shores of Lake Havasu. The best part of this hike, in my opinion, is climbing up and around all the different obstacles within…

Treat Yourself to Tea in Whistler Village

The Whistler Tea House For some reason, I’m on a big tea kick lately. Probably because I’m trying to cut out dairy. We all know that coffee without creamer, just isn’t coffee…so tea it is. While in Whistler last week I scoped out a few local places have tea. Originally I wanted to take my daughter to high tea at the Empress in Victoria, but when our plans to go to Victoria got cut, I searched for somewhere in Whistler where we were staying. As luck would have it, I did a quick Google search and learned that the Fairmont in Whistler (which is the same chain that owns the…

Davids Tea, My Newest Favorite Thing

DAVIDs TEA I love discovering favorite new things. While doing some pre-trip planning for our road trip to Canada, I came across a tea shop called DAVIDs TEA. It was right near the area of Whistler where we were staying and looked amazing from everything I saw on the website. Funny how a place I’d never even heard of before was now at the top of my list of places to track down during our week-long stay in Whistler.  All that aside…Oh, my word what a great store! Okay, a little overwhelming for a first timer. I literally walked in and was completely on sensory overload. The adorable packaged goods, the aroma of all…

Touring the 2010 Winter Olympic Sites in Whistler

Whistler Olympic Village One of the main attractions on our week long vacation to Whistler, Canada was checking out all the Olympic sites up close and personal. From the Olympic Plaza in Whistler Village to the Olympic Park and the Sliding Center, we were able to see a lot of the iconic structures that up until now, I’ve only seen on tv. I’ve watched the Olympics since I was a young girl and so it was especially thrilling to finally see the Olympic rings in person!  Whistler Olympic Park Whistler Olympic Park: Biathlon Shooting Range If you grew up in the 80’s, it’s likely you played some version of the Winter Games on…
