A Night at Hines Pine Mill House Bed and Breakfast
The Hines Pine Mill House Bed and Breakfast is situated in the historic lumber mill office building of the Edward Hines Lumber Company located in Eastern Oregon. Here you will find comfortable accommodations a delicious breakfast and lots of thoughtful extras provided by hosts Shani and Roger.
Accommodations
There are four rooms at the Pine Mill House Bed and Breakfast. The Sugar Pine room offers a comfortable queen bed with charming antique furniture and a private bathroom across the hall. An old vanity doubles as an en suite sink and comfy bathrobes are provided to wrap up in after a hot shower.
This bed was the most comfortable bed in recent memory. Compared to our memory foam mattress at home, this was even squishier and more plush. The linens on the bed were buttery soft too. It’s always a bonus when you get a good night’s sleep, but this was exceptional and has me re-evaluating my own bedding! It was tempting to sleep in and enjoy the cozy bed even longer, but instead I sprung up and got ready for the 8:00 breakfast service.
Breakfast
Our breakfast was delicious and included a large Belgian waffle with whipped cream, bacon and eggs, a bowl of berries and coffee or tea. In addition, there is also a generous breakfast bar available to guests 24/7. This was a pleasant surprise! After our evening soak at Crane Hot Springs we were hungry and very thankful to discover the variety of goodies up for grabs in the breakfast room. The fridge was stocked with yogurt and there was a great selection of granola bars, protein bars, fruit, crackers, and chips as well as cold cereal and oatmeal.
Tour
After breakfast you can tour the historic building and learn a little history of the lumber industry in Hines, Oregon.
As shown in the photo above, the Edward Hines Lumber Company building was modeled after George Washington’s Mt Vernon home in Virginia.
The former office building now serves as a game room for the bed and breakfast. On the far wall hangs a framed section of corrugated metal that was removed from one of the original buildings. One of the coolest features is a secret room located behind two vault doors. Shani and Roger have some amazing plans in store for this space and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Mercantile
Be sure the check out the gift shop filled with souvenirs, logo merch and gifts made by local artists. You won’t want to miss the unique selection of cribbage boards hand-made by Roger.
Roger proudly shared a personal cribbage board project he was working on with a totally rad 80s vibe.
