Visit the Lilly Pulitzer Flagship Store on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach
Lilly Pulitzer is synonymous with Palm Beach style, so I couldn’t pass up a trip to visit the Lilly Pulitzer flagship store while we were in Palm Beach… When in Rome and all that.
A Look Inside the Lilly Pulitzer Flagship Store
How it Started
Lilly Pulitzer was an American Fashion designer who created the iconic shift dress in the late 1950s. It all started when Lilly worked at a juice stand and wanted to wear something colorful that would hide the fruit stains. She began selling more dresses than juice, so she decided to open up her own boutique and the rest is history. Her popular resort wear has been loved by fashion icons and socialites such as Jackie Kennedy since the 1960’s.
Create Your Own Shift Dress
One of the most unique experiences available at the Worth Avenue flagship store, is the chance to design your own shift dress. This is a total bucket list for me, but not this trip. Here’s how the process works.
- Select your fabric
- Choose from two styles of shift dresses
- Get fitted and select your length
- Pick out your lace
- Your Name will be handwritten inside
Vision Boards
One of my favorite things inside the store, besides the clothes, were the design inspiration boards. Did you know the Lilly Pulizter team puts out new patterns every month?! What a fun job that would be.
The check out counter is covered in shells and the fitting room had lush foliage surrounding the lighting hanging from the ceiling. My photos don’t do it justice, it was really cool!
My Lilly Souvenir
Lilly Pulitzer really is a warm destination brand. I’ve never seen anyone in Oregon wearing Lilly, but I have seen it all over Florida, Hawaii and at resorts in Mexico. Over the years I’ve collected quite a few tumblers and mugs and towels and beach bags in fun Lilly patterns. On my visit to the Lilly Pulitzer flagship store, I chose a shirt in the “Lilly Loves Palm Beach” pattern as my souvenir!
The Story of Lilly
If you would like to learn more of the story of this fashion icon, check out the book “Lilly” seen in the photo above.
Bananas for Lilly’s “Let’s Go Bananas” Pattern
Is it wrong to match this much? I don’t think so either! Here is one of my favorite Lilly patterns to date. The pool float folds up flat enough to fit in your suitcase and is such a nice thing to have if your plans include lounging in a pool. Besides laying in it like a hammock, you can also sit in it upright.
I love this cover-up because not only is the pattern cute, but the cut is very flattering on my body shape (ie it hides all the tummy bits).
This all-in-one beach bag towel combination was used nearly every day whether we were at the pool or the beach. It even doubled as my gym bag in a pinch! The towel folds up inside the bag with room for other extra clothes or a book. A small front pocket holds items like sun screen, sunglasses, phone or your wallet.
