A Visit to Stave and Stone Winery and Hood River Lavender Farms

Spend the afternoon at a lavender farm and a winery all in one place in the beautiful Hood River valley. July is the perfect month to visit Stave and Stone Winery when the lavender is at it’s peak at Hood River Lavender right next door!

Wander Around in the Lavender Fields

Besides enjoying the scent of lavender as you walk around the farm, you can also purchase lavender at their U-Cut garden to take home with you. The cost is $14 per bunch.

Hood River Lavender Farms is also a great place to stock up on lavender oil, soaps and lotions as well as culinary lavender and candles.

While you’re visiting, be sure and grab a lavender ice cream at Pinot and Stella’s.

Beautiful Mountain Views

Both Mt Hood Lavender and Stave and Store Winery are nestled in between Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. On a clear day, you will have a full view of Mt Adams with pinot gris grapes growing in the foreground.

Here you can see Mt Hood peeking out in the distance.

Stave and Stone Winery

Just a few steps away from Mt Hood Lavender farm, you will find Stave and Stone Winery.

The outdoor patio seating is where it’s at during the summer months. In the winter it’s just as great because many of the tables feature fire pits to keep you nice and warm while you sit back and enjoy your wine.

Stave and Stone Score Card

The riesling wasn’t too sweet, it was nice and fruity which was great on a warm day. I thought the pinot noir blanc was good too, very light. Of course, the Chardonnay was my favorite. This one was slightly sweet and balanced out perfectly with the salty prosciutto bite. The Broken Boulder pinot noir and the syrah were both nice reds and paired great with the meats on the tasting menu. I especially liked the pinot noir with the pulled pork. The Merlot was a little heavy and dry to me and was my least favorite of the reds, but it was great with the salted dark chocolate.

Level Up Your Experience with These Amazing Bites

I was excited for a return visit to Stave and Stone Winery, specifically because I love their small bite pairings. I chose the “Legacy Flight” option for $35 which includes a wine flight with six pours and six pairings.

Included on the pairing plate are: Pepper with cheese, hummus with cracker, prosciutto, pulled pork with slaw, sausage, dark chocolate

But Wait, There’s More…

Besides the wine pairings we each ordered additional small plates to share. Charcuterie board, artichoke dip, baked brie topped with fig jam and walnuts (yes please!) and dark chocolate truffles made with quiver and pinot noir salt. It was all Heavenly and made for a very rich afternoon splurge!
