Visit with Us on Our First Trip to the Silos Baking Co.: Day Two at the Silos
The Moment Just Before
Since this was our first trip to the Silos Baking Co, I wanted to go early and avoid the crowds. At 7:30 in the morning the mood was pretty relaxed, likely the calm before the storm. It’s just a matter of time before the line starts forming along the exterior of the building. Upon entering the bakery we were handed order forms to fill out while waiting our turn. This helps streamline the ordering process when the bakery is extra busy. The Lemon Lavender cupcake was my number one choice and I could hardly wait to try it. I toyed with the idea of trying a couple other flavors too, but since I normally don’t eat sugar, I decided to keep it simple and just get my top pick. Vacation calories don’t count, right?
Decisions, Decisions
Before making the trip to Waco, I had big aspirations for artfully photographing these signature cupcakes. I planned to get there early, before the crowds as to not hold up the line. However in the moment I realized I didn’t want to be “that” customer, so rather than make a spectacle of myself, I just snapped a few quick cell phone pics. I did miss the Strawberries n’ Cream and the two seasonal cupcakes, but here are some of the sweets that did make the cut. I think the hand lettering on the cupcake signs are as sweet as the cupcakes themselves!
Inside the Silos Baking Co.
Inside the bakery, bakers are busy performing their magic and workers are busy taking orders. Customers trickle in to beat the crowds and I was one of the crazy few who arrived when they opened. This was no small feat for someone who loves to sleep in.
It’s hard not to be a little star struck when you’ve seen all the photos and heard the reviews from friends who have been to the Silos and raved about these cupcakes. I’ve been dreaming about trying these cupcakes for a while and was excited for it to finally be my turn!
I love that they also offer coffee and I double love that they package everything up in a cute little Silos Bakery branded gable box. It makes for such a nice presentation!
{Style Inspiration} If you want to re-create the Silos patio look, you can purchase similar navy and white French patio chairs HERE. There are similar black and white chairs HERE. (These are not affiliate links)
{Tip} If you arrive at opening and don’t want to eat a cupcake first thing in the morning…definitely grab a couple of these gems. The Prize Pig is a cheezy, bacony bite of savory biscuit goodness. They are the perfect size to hold you over until you are ready for your cupcakes! For more tips on visiting Magnolia Market, see my post HERE.
Our first trip to the Silos Baking Co. was a success! I’m glad we woke up early enough to avoid feeling rushed inside the bakery. If you don’t want to wait in a long line, but you also don’t want to get up early, the Silos Baking Co has a food truck that offers many of the same goodies. Just make sure you don’t wait too long. The favorites tend to sell out!
