Dry Creek Falls Hiking Guide
Our family set out to find a new hiking trail that is both family friendly and not too crowded like many of the better known trails. While this trail did have a gradual slope, I would classify it as an easy hike with the biggest incline at the last 1/4 mile before the falls. Located in the town of Cascade Locks, Dry Creek Falls is a family friendly hike through forest trails in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. This short hike follows along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and takes you through a beautiful forested area to Herman Creek. It’s the perfect spring hike when the weather is…

Mosier Plateau Hiking Guide
Sometime between mid-April and early May, photographers and nature enthusiasts start making the trek up the Columbia River Gorge to see the wildflowers in bloom. Rowena Crest is a popular spot as is Dog Mountain. Unfortunately Rowena Crest is not dog friendly and well, Dog Mountain is not people friendly…Just kidding! Dog Mountain is great if you enjoy steep hikes, but it’s definitely not a leisurely hike. If you’re looking for a gorgeous wildflower hike where you can bring your dog and ease your way into the hiking season, look no further! Tucked up in the hills of Mosier Oregon is a breathtaking view of the Columbia River from on…

A Visit to Marchesi Vineyards in Hood River
One Sunday afternoon in March, my husband and I decided to visit Marchesi Vineyards in Hood River. On our drive we each texted friends to get recommendations for a good place to stop and enjoy a glass of wine. Both friends replied “Go to Marchesi,” so that’s where we went. It was our first time trying any of the vineyards in Hood River, but we had heard so many great things from our friends that we were eager to experience it for ourselves. I’m not going to sit here and try to convince you that we are sophisticated wine connoisseurs, far from it, but we do enjoy a nice glass…

Valentines Wine Tasting at Methven Vineyards
This year, a couple days before Valentine’s Day, my husband surprised me with a fun day of wine tasting with some friends at Methven Vineyards in Dayton, Oregon in the Willamette Valley. It’s always pretty entertaining for me when downloading images taken on a wine tour…never fails that about half of my images are of the blurry sort. Here’s is just one example (directly above) taken early in the day. To be fair, my lens is super heavy, but I don’t think I can blame my hefty lens on this one! During this special event we enjoyed mushroom risotto, standing rib roast, fresh baked breads, gourmet cheeses and fruits. Everything…

Fall 2016 Willamette Valley Wine Tour
Touring Oregon’s Wine Country A few weeks ago we spent the afternoon touring four different local Oregon wineries. This was our second tour with Dan at Triangle Wine Country Tours and this tour was even better than the first. Lucky for us it was a beautiful sunny fall day here in Oregon which allowed us to soak in the scenery while sampling wine outside. I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m no where close to being a wine expert. I don’t have all the lingo down, but I am picking up bits here and there. This post does not contain any wine reviews as I’m still a newbie and don’t feel I am…
