A Visit to Mt Hood Winery in Hood River
A visit to Mt Hood Winery, located in Hood River, Oregon is a great place to spend the afternoon and features views as good as the wine. While you’re here kick back in the adirondack chairs or pull up a seat at a table and just soak it all in.
The tasting room was built in 2008 on land previously occupied by pear trees. This space has a cozy Northwest lodge aesthetic with tall beams, a stone fireplace and large windows, perfectly showcasing the star of the show. The vibe is very laid back and welcoming. Whether you’re seated inside or out, you will enjoy sipping wine with panoramic views of Mt Hood.
Mt Hood Winery Score Card
Here’s a look at how I rated the wine flight from our visit to Mt Hood Winery. The reds were the clear winner for me. I found the whites to be more on the dry side. The Pino Noir Rosé was the most neutral for me and wasn’t too sweet or too dry, but it lacked flavor (perhaps because I sampled it right after the reds). The reds were both very good, but the Pino Noir was my top favorite as it tasted smoother, more balanced and slightly less dry than the Summit Red.
Come for the Wine and Stay for the Views
Nothing better on a sunny March day than a little patio time in Hood River admiring Mt Hood in her full winter coat. Mt Hood Winery boasts gorgeous mountain views of both Mt Hood and Mt Adams.
Grab a Taco
You won’t find meat and cheese boards at Mt Hood Winery, but you will find tacos in a taco truck! Located on the opposite side of the vineyard is a taco truck serving up delicious street tacos. I ordered Asada, Pollo and Al Pastor.
